Well, my 2nd round of 18 holes at the King David golf club was planned two weeks in advance. Due to some over-eager marshall trying to make our first round of golf at the same golf club a complete nightmare, we managed to secure a free round (about R360 per person) and a free golf cart (R150 per two people).
Well, I was a little late, and had to speed to get there on time (about 180 km/h all the way there), and the weather was threatening to rain on us. I didn't have an umbrella and I had to borrow my 15 year old's school raincoat. So I was set, even with the bad weather looming.
When I enquired what was going to happen if it rains, do we still play or is it cancelled, I was told "it never rains on a golf course". So there you have it - we where safe :)
Well, it did rain, on us, in golf carts, without the normal plastic windscreens, so when we rode forward the rain was in our faces. I went with two friends of mine, Ricardo (14 handicap and the most seasoned golfer I know) and Rustim, who like me, started the same time, bought our clubs the same time and had the same "unofficial" handicap of 24 (thats where everyone started). Another long time friend of mine, Ian, had injured his back and was not up to making it - too sore to drive and therefor play golf.
I had some awesome shots with my driver, hit the ball damn far (according to Ricardo) and I got two par holes (a par hole is if you match the number of shots required to get to the hole, not over, called a bogie, nor under, called a birdie or eagle).
It was a great round of golf and Ricardo helped us to get to grips with the many rules around a golf course. I finished it off with loosing the scorecard - a complete fuckup on my part *shrug*. I'll pay more attention next time - promise :-)
BTW, golf stands for "Gentleman Only Ladies Forbidden" - interesting :)
