Windows 7 BETA

Well, I am running Windows 7 Beta (build 6801) on my desktop PC at home, and I must admit that I am impressed with it so far.  I only had one blue screen of death so far, which was caused by some TCPIP stuff, I rebooted and its been stable since.

I skipped Windows Vista on my desktop, been running it on the Sony Laptop since August sometime and I must admit I am even more impressed with Windows 7 as it seems a lot faster.

Initial tests show that the system boots the fastest on Windows 7 than on Windows Vista (2nd) and Windows XP SP3 (slowest).

More to follow as I play around with it some more

Windows Vista

Well, I was told that I would be switching from Vista to Windows XP today, and the day is nearly over and I am still on Vista.  The last laptop I had was a 1st generation Macbook Pro from Apple.  It was a 15.4" wide laptop and I had just come from a 12.1" Acer before that.

The new laptop is a Sony Vaio  with a 11.1" screen and that makes it VERY small.  It came pre-installed with Windows Vista Business Edition, with an optional Windows XP install CD, in case you hate Windows Vista.

After less than a week, I am still loving Windows Vista. I must admit that it is not as elegant as OSX, but it does the job well enough.  I like it a lot and it is growing on me.

One more round of Tribal Wars and then I am off to sleep!

Movie: The Hulk

I went to see The Hulk this evening, as part of my "see as many Marvel/Superhero movies" as I can mission.  Next up its Hancock :)

So, the movie was ok, interesting concept in the beginning, where they take you through some back story stuff, by giving flashbacks under the credits.  I loved the concept, was most probably the best part for me.

Liv Tyler was not a good pick for the female lead though, she did something to her lips, which has completely stuffed up her good looks - I think its collagen - silly girl.

The movie's special effects where brilliant as was expected, the scenes where they blended the human actor and the animation in was damn good, brilliantly done.

The story was also good for a marvel superhero movie, and Roth as the bad guy was good - I am amazed at how he has aged, but he played the part really well.

I love the Iron Man tie in at the end (spoiler, but who cares).

Currently listening to: Coldplay - Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends - Death And All His Friends.

Soccer night

Well, we had our revenge soccer match against the distribution division of my company, they had previously beat us 12-0.  This time around we beat them 7-5.  Some silly goals where let through, thanks to the center backs being very tired and stretched at one stage.

Oh I play in the center back position, and we had no subs so I was very tired.  I lasted the whole match, which was awesome.

My next game is the 6th of July - so this time we get a clean sheet - I hope :)

Xbox gaming

Well, I seem to be fairly addicted to Microsoft Xbox 360 these days and I am playing whatever I can get my hands on.  I just hat the fact that there are far too many expensive games out there, most of the games go for around R550 and the good ones (like GTA: IV) go for close to R750.  So donations are welcome :)

Currently topping my wish list is:

Civilization: revolutions
Ninja Gaiden 2
Battlefield: Company of Heroes
Racedriver Grid

So, start saving and send me those games (PAL please :)

Flickr

It started raining at about 3am here in Lakeside and I could not get to sleep after that. I suppose that I will eventually get used to the rainy weather in the winter season here, its already been windy for a few days now and there seems to be no shelter for the main bedroom window.

I'm loving Flickr at the moment. I have my own pro profile there, and I upload stuff there regularly. I love taking photo;s with my iPhone and posting them online. I'll probably put a few on there soon soon.

Its way better than Facebook, although it lacks that social interaction part that Facebook provides, but there are both pro's and con's to that.
